New Media -social media

Social Media is a set of supports that allows to link information through the internet and are conformed by social networks and virtual communities. The social media let us be active or passive actors in the internet information generation. Is the evolution of Mass Media concept, that emphasizes global covering being a more traditional concept. The social media changes radically the information management. The users go from being only readers to being redactors as well.

Not long ago the redactors of the pages use to decide the contents, now the users decide via 'share buttons', to share the information. This can be achieve  in the social networks, blogs or posting part of the content in other sites -like on facebook that you could paste a link of youtube, and you are sharing a video that way. In the present anybody could link in seconds the content in their social network.

Facebook Open Graph

Few years ago Facebook launched its Open Graph that basically consists in a platform based the users social aspect and any company could use it. For example Spotify, if you are log in Facebook, uses Open Graph to post what you are listening to, in a way you are socializing a content of what you are doing.

Open Graph's operation is relatively simple and helps improve the communication between companies and users, as specific actions made by the users are posted and shared in their timelines, news feed and ticker.

Google services

Google started as an internet research engine, now controls almost all the market as it has lots of services on the internet including apps, blogs, browser, maps and emails. 

Location based services

The LBS look to offer a personalized service to the users based in their geographic location. For it's operation uses geographic information systems of the user by, for example, GPS, or the server side, for example, the network being used.

The apps that use LBS look to give geographic services in real time. Some typical examples are GPS apps or maps, they use you location to set routes to a destination you want to go. It is used mostly in mobile phones.

These are some apps that use LBS: TomTom Mobile, Nokia Sports tracker, Ebay, Amazon, etc.
